Hope you are having a fantastical day. And if you aren't, I hope you find something on this site that lifts your spirits just a bit, whether it's a funny photo or a piece of poetry from the Short and Sweet section.
 
For as long as I can remember, I have loved words. Words in books, words on paper, words floating on the air around me (okay, so they don't actually do that, but how cool would that be?). Words can do so many things to shape a person, a story, or just a random meeting in a coffee shop. Words can uplift as easily as they can scar; they are more dangerous than most people ever realize...And harder to forget than most actions. Words deserve our respect and caution for the power they wield.
 
As my love of words grew, I was bit by the writing bug (looks a bit like an Egyptian Scarab beetle to me). I started with poetry, just a little stanza here and a haiku there. I was immensely fascinated with how powerful the right combination could be-how so much could be said with a few simple lines...Heart as dark as the night's moonless sky - And eyes full of tears she can't quite cry.
 
I've got to say that moving up from a twenty-line poem to an actual story is one of the hardest things I've had to learn so far (it's still easier than editing, though ).
